I just realized that I blogged on the evils of misguided gun control in 2011, when this  blog was originally penned. How prophetical!

My father has been a successful business man.  In the 50’s, in Cuba, he owned two businesses. One was in insurance, the other in nail manufacturing.

When Fidel Castro pushed into power, he seized businesses in the benevolent name of socialism and equality.

It all began with a Department of Commerce interview with my father.  As he entered, three men with guns in holsters confronted him sitting from a table.

LOL! This was the Department of Commerce!

My father wryly asked, “If you want to talk about my businesses, do you need guns?  I will only talk, if you remove them. ”

Well, these fellas were gracious and left the room to reappear without weapons.

The cordiality was short lived as Castro occupied the corporations which my dad raised with blood sweat and tears.

Benevolent socialist communist soldiers came to our ritzy home and ransacked every room. I still remember at the tender age of five.

Or when Castro put dump trucks to smash each other and scare us rich folks, we figured it was time to go!

We flew out to Miami as Castro’s airport cronies yelled. “Caterpillars.”

Every woman was stripped searched for hidden jewelry in her private areas.

I remember Moscow’s infamous leader, Nikita Khrushchev, banging a shoe upon the UN’s podium and blaring at the USA, “we will conquer you from within and without weapons.”

My father was startled at how rapidly Castro took over. In two years he was in control of my country.  Surely the Cuban revolution had been years in the making.  The men with the three guns were proof.

America has little comprehension of a gradual takeover over without guns.

I pray really hard, because I see shades of my homeland casting a gloom on this now my country.

I pray that this land of fruited plains will never face the men with three guns.
